Dr. Frank

It’s easy to forget that as technology advances, the process of creation remains uncertain and contingent. Despite the strides we make in artificial intelligence, robotics, and other fields, full control over our creations will always remain elusive. This uncertainty, this complexity, is what makes technology so captivating. It holds both promise and risk. The more we invent, the more we are reminded of the responsibility we bear to care for and understand the creations we set in motion.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1818) is a Gothic novel that explores themes of ambition, responsibility, and the consequences of tampering with nature. Frankenstein remains a powerful cautionary tale about the ethical dilemmas posed by human innovation and the responsibilities that come with creation.

Technology, at its core, is not just about control—it’s about the relationship we build with it and the recognition of our own humanity within it.

Our fascination with A.I should be more about how we build a relationship where our own humanness so our humanity is maintained.

Until next time,
